Process

Speech-language therapy is a treatment to improve clients’ communication skills. Speech-language pathologists work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication disorders in children and adults.

The process to receive speech/language therapy at Beyond Words is as follows:

  1. Intake Paperwork. In New Jersey, a physician referral is not required for speech/language therapy services. After you contact Beyond Words, you will receive an intake packet. You will need to complete forms, including a contact information form, case history, informed consent, and privacy and practice information forms.
  1. Evaluation. After all necessary paperwork is completed, the client will receive a comprehensive speech/language evaluation to determine if speech/language therapy is appropriate. The evaluation report will be sent to you and explained by the speech-language pathologist. If the client has been evaluated elsewhere recently, an evaluation may not be necessary to start services at Beyond Words.
  1. Scheduling. Upon completing the evaluation process, Beyond Words will work with you to establish a weekly therapy schedule. Sessions typically take place one or two times per week. Sessions can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1-hour long.
  1. Payment. Beyond Words is a private pay practice, which allows us to fully dedicate our time to providing high-quality therapeutic services. We accept various forms of payment, including cash, check, and credit card. Payment is due at the time of service.
